Our Grant Guidelines

The Lake Family Foundation supports nonprofit organizations whose mission is aligned with the following priority areas:

  • Education
  • Health and Human Services
  • Hunger Relief
  • Literacy and Language Arts
  • Support for Individuals with Special Needs
  • Temporary Adversity
  • Agricultural Education Programs

Grant amounts vary by organization and are typically between $2,000 and $20,000 for a one-year period.

Requests for operating and program costs, capital purchases and facility renovations will be considered as well as support for specific programs and activities.

Nonprofit organizations must be a qualified 501(c)(3) and provide their Letter of Determination. They must also be current in their registration with the California Attorney General’s office.

Matching grant programs will be encouraged.

The review process begins as soon as requests are received, with actual monies issued by the calendar year end. There are no limitations on how many times an organization can apply however requests must be received by November 1st for end of year funding. Some exceptions to this policy are allowed depending on the urgency of the request.

The Lake Family Foundation generally does not fund:

  • Individuals or for-profit organizations
  • Political organizations or activities
  • Religious organizations for religious purposes
  • Meetings, conferences or workshops
  • Sports teams or athletic competitions
  • Fraternal or social clubs
  • Other foundations or granting organizations
  • Organizations that limit membership and service based on race, religion, color, sex, age or national origin
